Books and Borrowing privileges

You can search the Library's Catalog from anywhere, on campus or off.  Use it to see if we have the book or journal that you are looking for. 

Truman Alumni who are Missouri residents can check out books after receiving a Community Borrowers Card.  Click here for the Borrowing Policies for visitors/guests.

Special Collections is SPECIAL for Alumni

University Archives -Special Collections is the repository for the University Archives -- business papers, legal documents, official and unofficial publications (departmental papers, newsletters, presidential papers, etc.),  student publications (The Index and old yearbooks) and much more.

Some of the copying services we provide for alumni are:
        Course descriptions from the Catalog under which the student was working
        Original photos or pictures from yearbooks
        Commencement recordings (audio from mid 1980's, video from mid 1990's).

Databases

Due to licensing restrictions, access to periodical article databases and electronic journals is available to alumni only when on campus.  We have created a list of free databases which you can use to find articles in magazines and journals.  For other databases, click here for more free web links to reference sites such as legal resources, encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc.

Truman State University Databases

New Media Index ---  Truman's weekly newspaper, full-text online from August 29, 2002 (when classes in session) 
TRUDEX ---The index to Truman State University publications. Free to search.  Request copies of articles from Special Collections.

Government Documents

Pickler Memorial Library has been a federal depository since 1968.  This page links to sources like
GPO Access (a service of the U.S. Government for finding government publications on the Internet) and
Thomas which helps you find legislative information.  Links to both federal, state, local, and international governmental web sites are provided.
