IPL Books Online --- Internet Public Library links to more than 20,000 free texts.

Internet Archive -- The Internet Archive is building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form. It includes moving images, live music archives, audio and text.

National Academies Press --- 3,000 books online for free. Primarily science and political science titles.

OAIster--- Project of the University of Michigan to provide access to publicly available digital library resources provided by the research library community.

Online Books Page --- University of Pennsylvania provides links to more than 20,000 titles available through Project Gutenberg, Bibliomania, UVA Electronic Text Center, etc.

Project Gutenberg --- More than 10,000 texts available, generally published before 1923, no longer in copyright.

University of Virginia Library Electronic Text Center --- Contains more than 70,000 texts, about 10,000 of them are free; access to others requires membership.

Wright American Fiction Collection --- About 2,880 volumes of American adult fiction published between 1851 and 1875.
