For book-length biography, check the Library Catalog for the artist as a subject.

Periodicals are also good places to find biographical information. Use the various periodical indexes such as Art Full Text, Readers’ Guide Abstracts, etc.
Biography and Genealogy Master Index is an index to various biographical dictionaries such as Who’s Who in America, Current Biography, etc. Ask at the Reference Desk for help.
