CD’s:
The Media Library maintains a collection of about 3500 CD’s. Students can check these out for 14 days or make copies of individual pieces on tape. These are best searched in the library catalog using a keyword search, choosing the "Modify Search" option and then selecting "MUSIC AUDIO" under the Material Type menu. (There are more details on searching the catalog under the section Online Catalog
Examples: beethoven and symphony haydn and concerto
(You will always select the
"Modify Search" option after executing your keyword search)
Find individual works or songs on a CD by doing a keyword search for the name of
the piece.
Examples: polovtsian dances
schumann and sonata and g minor
Music Scores:
Undergraduates may check out music scores for 14 days, graduate students
for 30 Scores may be searched in the catalog by keyword and then limiting the
results to "SCORES" under the Material Type menu.
Examples: handel and messiah
broadway musicals
(In the second example, an initial keyword search retrieves 94 items.
When limiting to "SCORES," the number is reduced to 14).
Recital Tapes:
The library maintains a collection of faculty, student and guest recitals
on tape. You can look for them by performer as the author, or by
keyword, recital.
Examples: author search: saffir janice
keyword search: recital and jazz, recital and trumpet
Students cannot check these out, but they can make copies on their
own tapes.
Videocassettes:
The library has thousands of videocassettes with many of them on music
subjects. You may locate them with a keyword search, choosing
"Limit/Sort" and selecting "VIDEO/FILM" under Material Type.

Videodiscs:
The collection of videodiscs is still small but growing. Videodiscs
are included in your list of results after limiting to
"VIDEO/FILM." Currently the Media Library has three
videodiscs pertaining toe some aspect of music:

Imagine the Sound. Videodisc ML 3561 J3 I453 1989
The Media Library has the equipment needed for listening to and dubbing
from audiocassettes, CD’s, and records, and for viewing videodiscs and
