Refereed or Peer-Reviewed Journals

Refereed (peer-reviewed) journals are scholarly periodicals.  Manuscripts submitted for publication to these journals are evaluated by at least one subject specialist in addition to the editor, before being accepted for publication. 

To find which journals in our Library are refereed, you may consult the Current List of Periodical Subscriptions in Pickler Memorial Library.  Titles with an *asterisk* are peer-reviewed.  You can view the list by title or by subject.

There are two print resources that are also useful in finding information about periodicals:
            Magazines for Libraries.  Reference PN 4832 M34
            Ulrich's International Periodical Directory.  Located on Table E behind the Reference Desk.
These sources can tell you about periodicals that we don't have.

EBSCOhost databases are unique in that you can limit your search to only peer-reviewed journals.
