Harmon Jackson and Nannie (Elliott) Bailey built their new place on the south edge of town, ca 1892. It appears to still be fairly new in this photo, if the size of the saplings around the house is any indication. Nannie operated a boarding house here until the house was destroyed by Kirksville’s April 1899 tornado. She was unhurt in the storm and moved to a home a few blocks south of the Square (HJ had died in 1898). |
