Helen (Mallett) “Ma” Scott operated a rooming house for Normal & ASO students from the mid 1880s through the mid 1920s.  Ma’s husband, John N Scott, a blacksmith by trade, was Kirksville City Marshal, 1895-99.  They moved to a new home at 1111 N Franklin, on the north edge of town, not long after this picture was taken.
