On April 26, 1897, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows celebrated the organization’s 78th anniversary with a full day of events sponsored by the Kirksville & La Plata lodges.  Nearly 500 Odd Fellows & Rebekahs from Missouri, Iowa & Illinois participated in the parade which started at Odd Fellows Hall, southwest corner of the Square, and ended at AT Still Infirmary.
