Mrs Irene Fitch, widow of shoe store owner John T Fitch, sold her home to Burr Jackson Trowbridge in 1893 and he built this new house on the lot that summer.  Burr served a couple of terms on the Kirksville City Council before he and his wife Angeline Minard returned to Macon, their former home, around 1907.
