Kraus Curriculum Development Library 

Microform Collection

  Scope:  
The Kraus Curriculum Development Library (KCDL) (Microfiche Cabinet 3, Drawer 8-10) is a collection of current curriculum guides from all over North America from 1978-2000, reproduced on microfiche.  These guides reflect objectives, programs, and teaching practices for Grades K-12, Early Childhood Education, and Adult Basic Education. This program was created in 1983. 

When first begun, the collection was divided into the following 22 main subject areas.  Over the years various topics were consolidated and renamed.  However, this gives an overview of what is included in the set.

                (1)  Some of these are cataloged in WorldCat on FirstSearch.
                        A keyword search:  "kraus curriculum development library"
                        will give you a  list of all that are cataloged.  You can add other
                        keywords to your search  such as "listening skills"  to get
                        curriculum guides on that topic.  The locator code will be on
                        the WorldCat record.
                (2)  There is also a subject index (1978-1994) in MicroRef  LB1570 .K73
                        as well as annual indexes 1996+

            The microfiche are arranged into the major subject fields listed above.
            Within each subject field, the fiche are organized by lowest to highest grade
            level and then by acquisition number within each grade level. The header
            strip on each fiche provides the basic information to classify the guide
            and to indicate its proper position in the fiche set.

                    For example: CE K - 009 means the curriculum is in the
                    Career Education section,  begins at the kindergarten level and
                    is the ninth curriculum included in that section beginning at that
                    grade level.
