Scope: The United States Statutes at Large is legal and permanent evidence of all the laws enacted during each session of Congress . It also contains concurrent resolutions, reorganization plans, proposed and ratified amendments to the Constitution, and proclamations by the President.
How to search the collection: The full text of the United States Statutes at Large for 1789-1875 (v.1-18) is available on the World Wide Web at the Library of Congress American Memory website. It can be searched by subject.
The microfiche collection which includes v.1-v.77A(1789-1963) has a subject index starting with v.5 (24th - 8th Congress, 1835-1845). It is at the end of each volume. An individual index was introduced with v. 65 (82nd Congress, 1951), and v.105 (102nd Congress, 1991) introduced a popular name index.
V.78 -114 (88th-106th Congress, 1964-2000) are available in print in the General Collection KF 50 A3.
V. 1 - v.111 (1789 -1997) are available full-text on the World Wide Web LexisNexis Congressional. Search them by putting in the Public Law number.
