Laptop Circulation Policy
Laptop computers are available for student
checkout from the Circulation Desk in Pickler Library. They are provided through
funds from the Parents Council. Laptops are checked out
on a first-come, first-served basis; they cannot be reserved.
LAPTOPS MAY NOT BE
TAKEN FROM THE BUILDING. Removing a laptop or any of
its peripherals from the Library will be considered theft. The loan
period is 2 hours or less. Students requiring use of a laptop outside of
the Library or for longer periods of time should look into the
Instructional Media Center Laptop Loan Program.
To borrow a laptop you must have a VALID current student Truman ID, and must read and sign the Laptop Borrowers Agreement. This agreement will remain on file for the remainder of the semester.
If you have outstanding library fines or charges
that prevent you from checking out other library materials, you will not be
allowed to check out laptops. Under no circumstance will an individual be
allowed to check out a laptop for another individual.
Laptops come preinstalled with the same software that is available on the PC's
in the Computer Labs. YOU MUST SAVE YOUR FILES to the T or Y drive,
or a CD before returning to the Circulation Desk. The Library
does not assume any responsibility for files left on the hard drive.
You should not install applications on the
laptops; you may print to a networked printer in the lobby or
third floor computer lab.
You are responsible for loss, theft, or damage to laptops and accessories. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LAPTOP UNATTENDED. In case of a Library evacuation, keep the laptop with you and return it when you are permitted to re-enter the building.
