Resources of special interest

Genealogy and local history --- The Library has many county histories, cemetery records, etc.  The librarians in the Special Collections Department can assist you with your research.

Kirksville newspapers --- Historic Kirksville newspapers are available on microfilm.

Government documents --- Pickler Memorial Library is a depository for both federal and state documents. The Library serves this Congressional District by providing access to government publications.  Most of our documents are listed in the Library Catalog and many of them can be checked out for two weeks.  We also provide access to documents in electronic format.  Many useful resources are listed on the Library's Web site.

School visits

We encourage area school teachers to bring students to the Library to do research.  We will work with you to make your visit as convenient as possible.  Reference librarians can give tours, talk to your classes, and demonstrate how to use our databases and other information resources.  Call the Reference Desk at 660-785-4051 or contact Karen McClaskey at 660-785-7416.

PLUS

Pickler Library User Service (PLUS) is an interlibrary loan service designed especially for schools in Northeast Missouri.  Member schools may request books and copies of articles to help students fill their research needs.  An annual membership fee based on student enrollment is required.  Contact Karen McClaskey for more information.
