Scope
Anglo-Saxon Manuscripts in Microfiche facsimile is part of the Medieval & Renaissance Texts & Studies (Series). The project aims to produce complete microfiche facsimiles of the nearly five hundred manuscripts containing Old English. Included in this collection are nine volumes of facsimiles of Old English manuscripts. Pickler Memorial Library has volumes 1-6 of this collection.
The contents include: v. 1. Books of prayers and healing (10 items on 27 microfiches) — v. 2. Psalters. I (8 items on 49 microfiches) — v. 3. Anglo-Saxon gospels (7 items on 43 microfiches) — v. 4. Glossed texts, Aldhelniana, psalms (9 items on 49 microfiches) — v. 5. Latin manuscripts with Anglo-Saxon glosses (10 items on 35 microfiches) — v. 6. Worcester manuscripts (10 items on 44 microfiches) — v. 7. Anglo-Saxon Bibles and The book of Cerne (14 items on 48 microfiches) — v. 8. Wulfstan texts and other homiletic materials (11 items on 49 microfiches) — v. 9. Deluxe and illustrated manuscripts containing technical and literary texts (10 items on 49 microfiches).
How to search the collection
Each of the six volumes owned by Pickler Memorial Library are cataloged in Truman’s Library Catalog and can be searched by author, title, series, keyword or subject. There is a guide available for volumes 1-6 shelved on top of Cabinet 19. Each guide gives the contents for each volume in the order in which they appear on the microfiche as well as the history of the manuscript, a selected bibliography, photo notes (information about letters or words visible in the original but not on film), and notes on special features.
