Pickler Memorial Library History
Pickler Memorial Library’s current building was constructed in 1925, expanded in in 1967, and renovated in 1993. It is named for Samuel M. Pickler, a former student and faculty member whose generous donation made the 1925 construction possible. More details and an illustrated timeline can be found at our history page.
Mission: Encouraging discovery through our resources, services, and space
- Supporting the teaching, study and research activities of the Truman State University community
- Teaching users to locate, obtain, and evaluate information, and assisting them in adapting to changes in information platforms and methods of access
- Providing an environment in support of individual and collaborative learning
- Developing, organizing, preserving and making accessible quality collections in various formats
- Designing and maintaining physical space and an online presence that facilitate learning, research, and study
- Making a commitment to continual assessment
