Scope

 The British Foreign Office – U.S. Correspondence 1930-1948  consists primarily of communications between the Foreign Office and consulates in the U.S. These records are the London files, containing material received from abroad or from London departments, and drafts of material originating in and sent out of London. Also, included are public proclamations by various national leaders, governments, and other pertinent publications.

How to search the collection

 It is very difficult to find a particular subject in this collection.  There are three guides (listed below) but they are only lists of the documents in the order that they appear on the reels.  Documents are supposed to be arranged on the reels by subject but it is very difficult to determine what the broad subject is. Also,  many documents within a subject grouping do not appear to be on the same subject at all.
