Scope

The first series of this collection consists of different texts of Chaucer’s works.  The second series includes critical works as well as texts.

The Chaucer Society was founded in 1868 by Dr. F. J. Furnivall “to do honor to Chaucer and to let lovers and students  of him see how far the best unprinted manuscripts of his works differed from the unprinted texts.” (Microcard Editions Catalog).

How to search the collection

All of the Chaucer Society Publications are cataloged in Truman’s Library Catalog  and can be searched by author, title, keyword or subject.  The Library Catalog record gives the location as Cabinet 20, Drawer 7 as well as the series number and card number by which each is filed. There is also a listing of abbreviated titles in each series with their series number located above Microfiche Cabinet 3.
