Scope
This collection has two parts. One part is the Parish Register Typescripts (Microfilm CD 1068 A2 C53 1969). This part contains copies of church records–marriages, baptisms and burials–from the 16th to the 19th centuries from parishes in London, the Midlands and Southern counties of England.
The other part is Parish Records, Churchwarden Accounts and Vestry Minutes. (Microfilm CD 1068 A2 P3). It is a microfilm of a manuscript. It has no guide.
How to search the collection
There is an index prepared by W.H. Challen (Microfilm CD 1068 A2 C53 1969 Index.) It is on microfiche.
For volumes 1-53 the index lists all of the parishes in alphabetical order. The numerical prefix before the parish name is the volume number. The volume numbers correspond to the volume numbers on the microfilm boxes. All entries in the parish register are divided into marriages, burials and births then arranged in chronological order within these categories.
The index for v. 53-86 is in volume number order, with the parishes listed alphabetically within the volumes. All entries in the parish register are divided into marriages, burials and births then arranged in chronological order within these categories.
You will need to know the parish and date of the marriage, burial or birth in order to find an individual in this collection.
